Summary

### Are your lots divided, merged, or transformed?

 Book a demo

Its permissioned blockchain infrastructure connects origin, transfers, transformations, lot splits and merges in a timestamped, verifiable history from raw material to finished product.

Traceability data can also feed brand-side digital product passports, creating continuity between upstream supply-chain information and the finished product.

 Methodology

## How does blockchain traceability strengthen ESG compliance in luxury?

Compliance requirements are pushing luxury businesses to document the origin, transformation and certification of their materials and products more rigorously.

### Blockchain adds an additional layer of integrity to that documentation: each recorded event can be timestamped and preserved in a history protected against subsequent alteration.

For compliance teams, the benefit is also practical. Instead of reconstructing a product journey from documents scattered across suppliers, laboratories, certifiers and logistics partners, information can be connected within a single traceability history.

This level of granularity helps companies prepare the data required by frameworks such as the OECD Guidance, G7 measures concerning diamonds of Russian origin and, where relevant, future European Digital Product Passport requirements.

 Watches and jewellery

## What distinguishes reliable traceability software for watches and jewellery?

 01

#### Transformation management

Materials rarely move through a supply chain in a straight line.

A lot of rough diamonds may become several polished stones. Multiple metals may be combined into an alloy. A finished piece may bring together components from entirely different supply chains.

**The platform must preserve the history through each of these transformations.**

 02

#### Data quality and governance

Traceability technology is only as valuable as the data that feeds it.

Companies need to understand who can add information, who can amend it before validation, who controls it and what evidence can be attached at each stage.

 03

#### Interoperability

Infrastructure that works only within its own environment creates another silo.

It should be able to exchange data with the ERP, PLM, laboratories, certifiers, logistics partners and other platforms already present in the supply chain.

 04

#### Controlled data sharing

Transparency does not mean making every piece of data public.

Companies need to be able to demonstrate provenance or compliance while protecting commercially sensitive information.

 05

#### Real supply-chain coverage

A platform designed for a global supply chain also needs to work where the data originates, including producing countries and operational environments where digital infrastructure may be more limited.

Methodology

## What changed with the EmpCo Directive on 27 September 2026?

27.09

2026 · Directive (EU) 2024/825

**2026 · Directive (EU) 2024/825 Directive (EU) 2024/825 has applied since 27 September 2026.** TThe new rules place stricter controls on certain generic environmental claims and sustainability labels.

For jewellery houses, this reinforces the importance of connecting claims to verifiable information and supporting evidence. A lot history linked to third-party certificates can help structure that documentary evidence.

Conclusion

## Which luxury traceability software should you choose in 2026?

#### Each platform in this comparison serves a distinct purpose.

TrusTrace and Retraced primarily focus on supplier compliance and supplier data in fashion and textiles. Arianee focuses on digital product passports, product identity and post-purchase engagement. Tracr specialises in natural diamond traceability, while Everledger has historically focused on digital identity and provenance for diamonds, gemstones and other high-value assets.

iTraceiT was designed to trace precious materials from mine to finished product, including through splits, merges, transformations and transfers between actors.

## FAQ: luxury traceability software

What is luxury traceability software? +

It is a tool that records the journey of a product or material from origin to sale, including transfers, transformations, certifications and other events associated with its lifecycle. It structures provenance information for auditors, buyers, partners or consumers.

What is the difference between traceability and a Digital Product Passport (DPP)? +

Traceability documents the journey of a material or product through the supply chain. A DPP is a digital record attached to the finished product and designed to bring together the information required by the applicable regulatory framework. A DPP can draw on traceability data collected upstream.

Does blockchain guarantee that the data is true? +

No. Blockchain protects the integrity of data after it has been recorded. The accuracy of that data still depends on its source, the controls applied at entry and the evidence or certifications that support it.

Is the Digital Product Passport mandatory for watches and jewellery? +

Not at this stage. The first ESPR Working Plan for 2025–2030 includes categories such as textiles, steel, aluminium, furniture, tyres and mattresses, but does not currently include jewellery or watches.

What should you check before choosing a traceability provider? +

Look in particular at how the platform manages lot splits and merges, the countries in which it can operate, data ownership and sharing controls, and how it integrates with your existing systems.

How should you choose between a sector-specific solution and a multisector platform? +

A sector-specific solution can be a strong fit when a company operates within a highly specialised value chain, such as natural diamonds. If your supply chain combines multiple materials, products or transformations, a multisector platform can help centralise traceability rather than layering several separate tools.

How long does it take to integrate traceability software with an ERP? +

It depends on the existing infrastructure, the scope of the integration and the APIs available. iTraceiT provides partners with a documented REST API, a test environment and integration support.
